On September 25, 2017, we posted that “Our Next Chapter” was starting, we had sold the house and we were without a “home” as we set out for our new journey. Now we are counting years instead of months since we hit the road. Jason continues to work at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, remotely for up to 75% of the year and on-site for 25% of the year around the start of the fall semester each year. Barb continues to fight with chronic migraines but is doing much better with depression since we can have a “change of venue” whenever we need to change it up.

In our first year, we became established residents of the Florida and became Disney’s annual pass-holders fulfilling that dream. We had started out with a truck and 5th wheel the first two years and now we travel throughout the country in our 2008 and now 2020 Newmar Kountry Star Diesel Pusher motorhome pulling behind “Rubi” our 2017 Jeep Rubicon.  Wintering in Florida has been good for the soul, but the weather is not conducive for migraines.  Our two cats Ricco and Wheezy started travel with us, but we had to put them to rest at Thanksgiving 2023 due to a them having a medical emergency.

CoVID slowed us down, but otherwise, we have tried to expand our states visited map to more of the country.  We prefer to set roots somewhere for a week or two and then travel out a few hours from that base camp point.  We avoid the normal tourist traps and try to focus more on natural sites, caves, penguins, dams, off-roading, BBQ, and other unique treasures each state has to offer. We have the Thousand Trails Adventure pass with Trails Collection and the Resort Parks, Int. (RPI) addons which give us up to three weeks at a time with up to six month booking windows. This has made travel much more cost effective and more streamlined for planning.
